API Connect Reserved Instance and Deprecation of IBM Cloud Certificate Manager service

By Michael Thompson posted Tue December 20, 2022 09:43 AM

For our API Connect Reserved Instance Customers

We have had many questions around the announced free Certificate Manager service depreciation and the introduction of the paid Secrets Manager replacement service. In API Connect, we introduced Secrets Manager support in the 10.0.5.1 release, and customers can use Secrets Manager to manage their certificates within API Connect RI for their Remote Gateway and Customer Branding (custom SNI and certificates for the gateway) scenarios.

For those of you concerned with the depreciation date of the Certificate Manager service and are not yet able to provision a Secrets Manager service instance, your remote gateways and custom branding will continue to function with your existing certificates in place until those certificates expire. Going forward you will need to use the Secrets Manager service to update those certificates when they expire, or when creating a new gateway service in the API Manager.

We recognize the need to provide additional options for a certificate manager service, the API Connect development team is looking to provide those features in a future release.

If you a have further questions, please create a support issue.

Thank You
