We are excited to share that IBM Security Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager (GKLM) was named one of two overall leaders in the Encryption Key Management market by the analyst firm Omdia this year. Omida is a global research leader who is striving to help organizations make better technology choices for their business and enable technology innovators to better understand and reach the markets they hope to serve.
Omdia evaluated and ranked five vendors, including GKLM, along ten essential capabilities related to key management (you can see them listed in the screenshot below). Based on GKLM’s high marks, Omdia designated us a leader in the encryption key management (EKM) space alongside Oracle’s Cloud Key Management.
While Oracle does offer an excellent solution, its support is limited to only its own Oracle data environments. Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager is a platform-agnostic solution, which can manage encryption keys for a wide range of IBM and 3rd party storage and non-storage devices, via its use of interoperability protocols like the Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP), the IBM Proprietary Protocol (IPP), as well as REST. Of the other platform-agnostic solutions in the report, (Fortanix and Entrust for example) GKLM is the only solution ranked as a leader.
GKLM has long been a leader in this space. It’s exciting to see it recognized as such by industry analysts. Make sure to check out the report in the links above.
