IBM® Releases 2nd Quarter 2023 New Features to z/OS® v2.5
IBM continues to be a powerhouse in helping businesses handle, process and secure information.
With its latest 2nd Quarter 2023 release, IBM strengthens and improves its z/OS 2.5 operating system with
new updates and enhancements. The continued innovations include increased performance, and a better
file management system.
A new union file system has been built for z/OS enabling users to obtain a merged view of one or more directories.
This provides a more efficient vehicle for managing files. There is also a new data set file system enhancement
to allow specification of multiple data set qualifiers for the high-level qualifier directory.
Below are additional enhancements on UNIX utilities and Open Enterprise for Python in z/OS:
- z/OS UNIX utilities enhancements. Numerous enhancements have been provided to existing utilities,
including the date, and find utilities.
- zIIP enablement of IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python. z/OS is enhanced to allow
IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python to be zIIP enabled while executing Python workloads on z/OS.
