IBM is establishing a brand new Cyber Corridor, designed to help the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) navigate future and current threats. The IBM Center for Government Cybersecurity, which will be housed in the company's New York headquarters, will feature secure lab space where government clients can collaborate on innovative solutions to national security. This cyber corridor was established as a response to the rapidly evolving cyber ecosystem, which had prompted many in the private sector to set up their own capabilities in the public cloud. In particular, IBM is leveraging its extensive cloud and data security expertise to partner with the broader healthcare industry to build a single platform for health information management. As part of this collaboration, IBM will open the IBM Cyber Corridor Research Center in New York City.
As part of this IBM effort, several well-known consulting firms are also joining forces with IBM to accelerate the development of healthcare IT to bolster the nation's health records management system. According to a recent article in Information Systems News, IBM is leveraging its experience in data security and information management to partner with several of the nation's largest health organizations, including Harvard Medical School, John Hopkins University, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts General Hospital and other prominent hospitals in the region. The IBM Center for Government Cybersecurity will also play a large role in supporting the federal government's mission to protect personal healthcare information.
The IBM Center for Government Cybersecurity is part of the IBM Workforce Cyber readiness initiative. According to IBM, the cyber threats to government networks today are greater than ever before, and these threats are only going to get worse. IBM hopes that the Center for Government Cybersecurity can help to mitigate any potential vulnerabilities and channel all that needed intelligence, analytics, tools, and skills to the federal government and state agencies in order to address the future threats and protect the infrastructure of U.S. civil defense. According to IBM, the cyber issues have reached a fever pitch due to the recent eruption of Identity Theft in India as well as North Korea and other rogue nations, hackers are now more capable than ever before to steal sensitive personal data from government, corporate, and even healthcare networks.

IBM has announced that they will be supporting the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Homeland Security with the mission to build a "cyber resilience hub" which will encompass an IBM Research Park for rapid response, a National Data Collection Center, and a National Intelligence Center Cyber Core. This will allow the federal agencies to better share cyber threat information and work together to address the vulnerabilities, which might arise from a variety of sources within the larger cloud community. IBM will be utilizing their white label solutions and their hybrid clouds to address the vulnerabilities. Hybrid clouds will enable the federal agencies to take advantage of IBM's multi-vendor, multi-platform software and services.
IBM's commitment to building a cyber resilience hub in the government is unprecedented and will present companies all over the world with a big decision. IBM's commitment to this project represents a sea change for companies in the IBM Company and it is truly exciting to see this new facility coming to fruition. This is a major investment for IBM and one of the many milestones in the company's efforts to extend its reach into government as well as other large industries. The new facility will provide the government with unmatched, unparalleled, and comprehensive cyber resilience expertise and will position IBM at the leading edge of this very important sector.
These advisory groups were created to help provide insight and counsel to federal agencies on current and historical challenges that may impact their mission direction. In order to achieve success, advisory groups must be supported by a high-level strategic management team, led by IBM senior vice president John Grace. Grace has been a significant participant in helping IBM successfully address significant industry, operational, and customer challenges, and we look forward to supporting his mission through the IBM Center for Government Cybersecurity. With the wide variety of consulting opportunities offered through the IBM Center for Government Cybersecurity, IBM is looking to increase our global presence in this critical arena, while also developing partnerships with our existing customers and allied industry partners.
