The IBM Cloud Pak for Data Team is once again delighted to announce that the Cloud Pak for Data monthly refresh for April is available. Cloud Pak for Data version 4.0 refresh 8 continues the momentum from the first quarter with a focus on security patches to address vulnerabilities and exposures that are reported. Along with this the IBM team is still delivering quality and stability improvements.
Quality and Stability Improvements
  • Debug Python notebooks and python scripts directly within JuptyerLab in Watson Studio (what's new)
  • Create deep learning models using the latest frameworks in Watson Machine Learning Accelerator with the following libraries: TensorFlow 2.7.1, PyTorch 1.10, torchVision 0.11.3, OpenCV 4.5.5, xgboost 1.5.2
  • Manage and monitor the SPARK environment from a command line using the Spark service CLI:
    • Instance management actions
    • Spark application actions
    • History  server actions
  • Improved data traceability in Match 360 with Watson using new auditing attributes to track when data was initially added and last modified, along with the user who last updated the data (what's new)
  • Enhanced matching results in Match 360 with Watson by reducing the amount of false positive or false negative matches using multi-dimensional comparison filters (details)
  • Better visualizations options in Cognos Dashboards with enhanced widget properties, vertical and horizontal distribution of objects, and many more (full list)
  • Improve workflow tasks by filtering on status to quickly identify open tasks and the request type in Watson Knowledge Catalog
  • SSL certificate extended from 1 month to 1 year and 30 days for Db2 and Db2 Warehouse
  • Integrate Guardium Data Protection by installing Guardium S-TAP agent directly on Cloud Pak for Data to monitor compliance and secure Cloud Pak for Data databases
  • Bug fixes and additional improvements for all Cloud Pak for Data Services (what's new)
New best practice for installing Cloud Pak for Data
  • The Cloud Pak for Data documentation includes a new best practices topic on setting up a script to source environment variables with the appropriate information for your environment. The script enables you to run most of the commands in the Installing and Upgrading sections of the documentation without making any changes.
  • The script can also help you:
    • Improve the consistency of installations across multiple environments
    • Simplify the process of managing multiple deployments on the same cluster

As we move into May, the IBM Cloud Pak for Data team will continue to work on patching new security vulnerabilities and exposures, along with a commitment to quality and stability improvements. May is going to be an exciting month as IBM kickoffs its premiere conference: THINK. Here are the two missing points , I believe ​

Step (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cloud-paks/cp-data/4.0?topic=tasks-configuring-your-cluster-pull-images)
    Once you add your IBM entitlement API key, to pull-secret you need to REPLACE (not restart) your workers - IBM Cloud VPC Gen 2 ONLY  , otherwise, the workers will not be able to pull images 

All the steps installing part needs to use the new environment variable to make it even more easier here (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cloud-paks/cp-data/4.0?topic=integrations-services)


Installing DB2 for WKC and DV : I did not manage to make it work using the Tuning , I created a DeamonSet to make it work , I don't understand why or is it just by chance (IBM Cloud VPC gen 2)

I think that this is the most difficult one you get lost very fast

Hi thank you for that update , the instructions are way ore better when putting variables , it now go straight forward . but DB2 and WKC installation are still obscure ... you dont know from where to start
