Wow! Wow! Wow!Today marks the end of the IBM Z Ambassador programme for 2020 & what a better way to 'end an era' than being named European zAmbassador of the Year, alongside three other reputable individuals for their respective regions. A smile has not left my face since delivering my acceptance speech & I have been truly overwhelmed with the congratulatory messages I have received from students & IBMers alike! However, my time as a zAmbassador would be far from complete without the network of changemakers I've been fortunate enough to collaborate with on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy my acceptance speech, below:
Transcript: At a time where things felt out of control & that our voices were not being heard, my zAmbassador experience truly changed things for me. I cannot thank all those that my 2020, the best year of my life.
If anything, this award belongs with my fellow zStudents — Amardeep, Avhijit, Kareena, Devyanshu, Fatima, Hartanto, Judith, Joseph, Juan, Laura, Muhammad, María Fernanda, Komal, Mikateko, Sabine, Reema and my partner in crime (or should I say tech for good) Chloë!
This group inspired me, motivated me to strive for more, validated my mission to promote youth inclusion and keep learning. These individuals kept me going when things felt uncertain, and they allowed 16 y/o me to advise and guide them — I'll never forget Mika's face the moment she learnt just how young I am 😂
Thank you, Chloë, for being the logistical powerhouse backing and synthesizing my wildest dreams & thank you to the programme leads, who took on board my big ideas, which were fuelled with enthusiasm despite knowing hardly anything about Z when starting out.
All in all, I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude and the pride of knowing that together we have overcome adversity (oopsie: I say diversity in the video!!), built an incredible network of changemakers and have created opportunities not only for ourselves but for other students living through these anomalous times.
zAmbassadors, the fight is not yet over. We must continue to push for youth inclusion and opportunity creation across the industry.
We are the future workforce, the bosses and leaders of our tomorrow. Whilst IBM Z have pioneeringly heard our voices and elevated them. There are still many internal divisions and beyond who are yet to adopt the art of youth inclusion.
IBM Z Ambassadors, this is just the beginning, and I cannot wait to see where we go next. Thank you!
