Hello World!! Here I cover almost everything you need to know about the ZAmbassador Program. My journey as a ZAmbassador has been awesome so far. So, I thought of sharing it with the people who are still unaware what it is about. Because why not?
Who is a ZAmbassador?
Here’s what the official website of the ZAmbassador program states, “IBM ZAmbassadors or ZAmbassadors are volunteers who play a key role in the IBM Z student community.” In my words, it’s basically a win-win situation for both the IBM community and you!!
What actually does a ZAmbassador do?
As a ZAmbassador you become the face of IBM in your University/School. Besides this, you are handed with the responsibility to spread the word about IBM Z events and Master The Mainframe Competition. In case you have no clue about this competition, kindly refer to this. You may also check out this another awesome blog that will give you a better insight into it.

Apart from the already mentioned duties, you are also asked to host a Master the Mainframe workshop at your School. Well, this is probably everything that a ZAmbassador is expected to do on his/her part.
Wondering What’s In for you?
It's a human tendency that one does want to know what’s in for them before getting into something. As mentioned, I have got all covered for you, just dive right in.
You are given a chance to make an impact irrespective of how big it is. On top of it, you get to learn some awesome skills along the way. Not only this you get an opportunity to network with people around the world. Yes! around the whole world!! Isn’t that amazing?

IBM provides the ZAmbassadors with custom badges, special ambassador swags, mentorship calls with IBM staffers and how can I forget about the introduction to companies looking to hire!!
My Experience as a ZAmbassador
I was lucky enough to know about this program really soon after it launched. And, even more, lucky to have passed the selection rounds. Although it's been just two months I still love my journey so far.
In these tough times of pandemic going on, we all feel apprehensive about what comes next. Being not able to go to our Universities or regular work felt like we no longer have the importance that once we used to hold. As a ZAmbassador I was able to overcome this feeling by again being a part of something. The bi-weekly meetings, the chance to interact and connect with my fellow ZAmbassadors from other corners of the world felt like I am really doing something now.

In addition to this, I was given the opportunity to connect with mentors, IBMers who really are doing great in Tech. Learning about mainframes will be my biggest takeaway from this program!
This is my experience from just a few weeks of being a ZAmbassador and I am already thankful for the opportunity. I grabbed my chance, What about you?
Excited to apply? Just wait a couple of months since applications for this amazing program will open next year(2021)! If this sounds something you would like to get in make sure to keep an eye on https://zambassador.com/.
