By JING JING WEI posted Fri December 31, 2021 08:10 AM

In Cloud Pak for Business Automation, we have made some changes to Business Automation Application Starter Pattern.

  1. We will not install Business Automation Navigator by default.
  2. We have introduced a new functionality - Business Orchestration, which is a technical preview

Next, I will introduce the topology.

Minimum Deployment

Deployment Topology

If you choose to install Business Automation Application starter pattern without any optional components. The topology will look like this:

What you can do

In this deployment, you can

  1. create Application in BAStudio and manage the lifecycle of Application.
  2. author Application in Application Designer and playback them using playback Application Engine.
  3. manage user authorization in Process Admin Console

Deploy with Business Automation Navigator optional component

Deployment Topology

If you choose to install Business Automation Application starter pattern with Business Automation Navigator optional components. The topology will look like this:

What you can do

In this deployment, you can

  1. create Application in BAStudio and manage the lifecycle of Application.
  2. author Application in Application Designer and playback them using playback Application Engine.
  3. manage user authorization in Process Admin Console
  4. create desktop in Business Automation Navigator and run application in the desktop, which is the end user experience. The only difference is that there is no access control in playback Application Engine. So the experience is a little different from Application Engine in production pattern.

  4. Try business orchestration authoring and playback as well as end user experience using workspace, which is still a technical preview function

Deploy with both optional components

Deployment Topology
