IBM Z Open Automation Utilities

IBM Z Open Automation Utilities 1.2.1 (PH48135/UI82575) is now available!

I’m excited to announce that IBM Z Open Automation Utilities 1.2.1 (PH48135/UI82575) is now available! The release includes a new utility called zinfo to view z/OS system information from the z/OS UNIX terminal, which will enable future functionality within Red Hat Ansible Certified Content for IBM Z. Moreover, opercmd now supports the ability to specify console names to avoid console conflicts, and users have the ability to specify a timeout parameter when using opercmd to allow longer-running commands to complete. This release also contains bug fixes for many utilities such as dmodmlsdgrep and many more. You can find more details about the contents of the release here, and download the PAX version here. SMP/E users can also obtain this PTF mod release via APAR/PTF PH48135/UI82575.

IBM z/OS Core Ansible collection

We have released an update to ibm_zos_core as version 1.3.6 brings several bug fixes and support for ‘ansible-core’ 2.11. It’s available on Automation Hub, Galaxy and in Git. Check out the release notes for a full list of all the enhancements.

We are also excited about the new ibm_zos_core version 1.4.0-beta.2 released to Galaxy and Git. There are a number of minor fixes and official support for Ansible 2.11. However, the most significant changes are the architecture changes made in the zos_copy module. In this release we introduce our precedence rules on how we create destination data sets, and new computational capabilities to aid in creating destinations. We also aligned our USS operations with the community copy module. We have a lot more updates and enhancements coming in the near future, so make sure to stay up to date on the latest versions available!

We also wanted to share that the IBM z/OS Core collection’s issue tracking is now viewable by everyone. As we continue our transparency efforts, you can now see our:

I encourage you to engage our repository and open issues, review issues, follow discussions or simply see what we are planning.
