Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6.4 documentation is refreshed today to include the following enhancements:

Enhancements in COBOL 6.4 with PTFs installed: (For a complete list of Enterprise COBOL PTFs, check https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/604539):

• Runtime APAR PH59864 (V2R5 or later): When PTFs for LE APAR PH56800 and COBOL Runtime APAR PH59864 are installed on z/OS 2.5 or later systems where COBOL programs run, the AMODE 31 subprograms called by the caller program can be either a DLL or a non-DLL. (Dynamic call between AMODE 31 and AMODE 64 programs)

Documentation fixes in COBOL 6.4:

-In Programming Guide:

• Clarified that for an LP(64) COBOL program to be called dynamically, the program-name in the PROGRAM-ID paragraph must be identical to the corresponding program object name. (Compiling and binding AMODE 64 programs under z/OS)
• Added an example about how to create an application that consists of a COBOL main program that calls a C DLL subprogram. (Example: sample JCL for a procedural DLL application)
• Explicitly clarified that JAVAIOP(OUTPATH) option alone is not supported without specifying zos-unix-directory. (JAVAIOP)

- In Language Reference:

• Added a note for handling UTF-8 receivers in the STRING statement. (STRING statement)

- In Migration Guide:

• Clafified that CCCA can convert CICS and non-CICS COBOL source programs and copybooks from old 68 COBOL Standard and 74 COBOL Standard languages to the 85 COBOL Standard language. (COBOL and CICS Command Level Conversion Aid for z/OS (CCCA))

• Explained the compiler behavior after the LIB/NOLIB option was removed in COBOL 4. (Compiler option changes from IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 4)

- In Customization Guide:

• Clarified the difference between the IGYWDOPT and IGYWUOPT sample jobs. (Sample installation jobs)
• Streamlined and reordered the modifying compiler options defaults section according to the installation flow. (Planning to modify compiler option default values)
