Enterprises are looking to adopt technology that will drive quicker time to value and minimize business risk.

Today, we are excited to announce IBM z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) 1.1, a new product offering that utilizes industry-standard open source technologies to build and run containerized z/OS UNIX applications natively on z/OS.  The product delivers a container runtime and the utilities to build, run and manage containers on z/OS.

  • Modernize existing workloads and develop new z/OS UNIX applications leveraging the performance benefits of running those applications in close proximity to IBM Z applications and data.

  • Leverage zOSCP support for DevOps practices and open-source tools to embrace a z/OS cloud native developer experience and enable a consistent and familiar development experience across the enterprise.

  • Run containers natively on IBM z/OS, leveraging the benefits of open-source container technologies while also leveraging the security, reliability and performance benefits of IBM Z.

@Charles Hughes, I hope you got your answer by now. z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) is about z/OS containers/images on z/OS. zCX is about linux containers/images in a hypervisor running on z/OS.

How does this compare to zCX and why isn’t it more obvious how it compares?
