Business Automation Workflow (BAW) version 23.0.1 brings a host of new features and improvements designed to enhance productivity and improve the overall user experience. These enhancements aim to provide a modern, engaging, and essential Workplace and Case client, modernize workflow authoring experience, and streamline project deployment and management.
Here's a closer look at the new features included in this new release:
Enhanced Task and Workflow Management in Workplace:
The Workplace collaborative environment helps you manage different types of work in the same application. Previously available only with Business Automation Workflow in containers, Workplace is now available in the traditional Business Automation Workflow offering. Additionally in this release, users can now set their email notification and task-opening preferences more easily, improving their ability to stay updated and manage their workload effectively. Improved Case Client Functionality:
The Case Client has been enhanced to provide a more streamlined and efficient experience. Users can manage access to case instances using the Manage Teams capability from the Case Details page. This feature simplifies team management and enables users to add themselves to teams more easily. Furthermore, the ability to view, modify, and delete comments in case pages empowers users to collaborate effectively and maintain accurate and up-to-date case information.
Process Admin Console:
The Process Admin Console receives a modern look consistent with other IBM Business Automation Workflow components. This unified user interface improves usability and reduces the learning curve for administrators. Additionally, the ability to find process instances efficiently by sorting them by start date in the Process Inspector enhances visibility and facilitates effective process monitoring.
Common User Interface Enhancements:
The common user interface enhancements improve the overall user experience and promote consistency across different views and components. The enhanced Document Explorer view, aligned with the user interface theme and header style of other human service user interface views, provides a cohesive and intuitive user experience. The enhanced date picker recognizes user input, speeding up data entry and minimizing errors.
Process Designer Improvements:
Process Designer, a critical tool for process modeling, receives several enhancements. The introduction of an intuitive graphical data handling feature enables efficient definition of input and output data mapping for process activities without relying on JavaScript. The enhanced Process Designer aligns with the user interface theme and header style of other components, ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience. Additionally, when developing a coach, the Process Designer automatically generates variables for the client-side human service and binds them to the view instance. This automation saves time and effort for developers by eliminating the need to manually create and bind variables reducing the risk of errors and improving the overall quality of the user experience.
Enhanced Case Builder Functionality:
Case Builder gains new features that enhance the user interface-building experience. The ability to configure the Case Search widget to display only members of solution roles simplifies user selection, improving usability and ensuring accurate assignment of tasks. Filtering options for case properties enable quick access and retrieval of relevant information. The addition of JavaScript methods to the tw.system namespace allows developers to utilize case-related functions outside of the process context, enabling greater flexibility and extensibility.
Extended Indexing Support and Configuration Enhancements
The latest enhancements to the Process Federation Server bring an array of benefits to businesses seeking more flexibility in setting up their production topology. Previously limited to Elasticsearch support, the Process Federation Server now extends its indexing capabilities to include OpenSearch 2.x clusters. With the new update, REST API requests to federated systems can be effortlessly configured to include a unique HTTP header. This addition enables easy referencing of these requests when establishing proxies or filters in front of federated systems.
Workflow Center Improvements:
Workflow Center now allows the deletion of branches from process applications and toolkits. This feature simplifies the removal of unnecessary elements, keeping the environment clean and organized.
Overall, the latest enhancements in Business Automation Workflow (BAW 23.0.1) provide a comprehensive suite of tools and features that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and enable data-driven decision-making. By leveraging these enhancements, you can unlock substantial business value, achieve operational excellence, and maintain a competitive edge in today's rapidly evolving business landscape.
