Db2 Administration Tool and FL 509 support

While there were no new incompatible changes or deprecations introduced with FL509, here are some of the features delivered in Db2 for z/OS FL 509:
  • Tamper-proof audit policies, improving data security.  Audit policies cannot be changed, or stopped, unless requested by an authorized user.  Authorization must be via a z/OS security product (like RACF), and cannot be done by Db2 for z/OS.
  • Enhanced temporal RI was first introduced with Db2 12. With FL 509, restrictions on UPDATE and DELETE statements are removed.
  • Greater granularity for compression at the table, table space or partition level.  You can use fixed-length or Huffman compression algorithms with CREATE TABLE and ALTER statements.  The Db2 catalog is updated to indicate which compression algorithm is used on which level object.
  • High Availability Accelerator-Only Tables deliver the ability to define an accelerator-only table in more than one accelerator.  This can help improve availability.  A query can be rerouted to another available accelerator if the target accelerator is not available.

Db2 Administration Tool provides support for the following enhancements in Db2 12 function level 509:

    • Support for tamper-proof audit policies
    • High availability for accelerator-only tables
    • Specify a compression algorithm at the object level

This video shows you how to take advantage of this new functionality in Db2 Admin Tool.
