Why did we create the IBM Power Solutions Catalog?
For years, the IBM Global Solutions Directory (GSD) was the go-to place for Power clients to find software solutions that ran on the platform. However, when the GSD was sunset, many clients found themselves asking where to go to find software solutions for their industry that ran on Power. Additionally, ISVs and IBM Business Partners no longer had a place to list their solutions and products to reach new clients and users. The absence of a dedicated online resource was more than just an inconvenience. It was a barrier to clients and IBM Business Partners in the Power community looking to collaborate.
This feedback came through loud and clear from the IBM Power community. The idea for the Power Solutions Catalog came to me while attending the OCEAN TechCon conference in Costa Mesa, California. During the CIO Summit hosted by IBM Champion for Power Alan Seiden, an IT leader asked why there wasn’t one place to see all the ERP solutions and software packages on the market that run on IBM i. This was shortly after the Global Solutions Directory was sunset, and the gap it left was clear and apparent. I knew this was an issue in our community that could not be ignored or overlooked.
