Building and deploying Apache CloudStack on Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE servers has been streamlined.

1.     Follow our build instructions guide to build Apache CloudStack on Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE servers.

2.     Refer to the quick installation guide to install and set up Apache Cloudstack with the s390x packages you build in step 1.

3.     Use the CloudStack management UI to add s390x-based KVM hosts

4.     Configure NFS or other secondary storage options.

5.     Manage virtual machines on s390x KVM hosts.

Wow, this is such an exciting step forward for both Apache CloudStack and Linux on IBM Z and LinuxONE!  The fact that this setup can handle multi-tenant orchestration while being energy-efficient is a big deal (who doesn’t want lower costs without compromising performance?!)

It’s great to see open-source tech thriving on such powerful hardware, and this integration opens up so many possibilities for hybrid and multi-cloud solutions. Huge congrats to the team for making this happen, it’s an awesome milestone!
