The IBM Spectrum Control OpenStack Cinder driver enables your OpenStack-powered cloud environment to utilize your IBM Spectrum Control installation for block storage provisioning. IBM Spectrum Control provides block storage provisioning capabilities that a storage administrator can use to define the properties and characteristics of storage volumes within a particular service class. For example, a block storage service class may define RAID levels, tiers of storage, and various other storage characteristics.
The IBM Spectrum Control OpenStack Cinder driver enables your OpenStack cloud to make use of these defined service classes, which are exposed directly into your Cinder environment as Cinder volume types. For each block storage service class, a Cinder volume type is created. This enables cloud users to create and use volumes of this type
