Creating Form Based input using Table Properties

By Archive User posted Wed November 09, 2016 09:39 AM

Turn a Table in to a Single Cell Form Field

When building a read/write dashboard, you often want to indicate where input is required or recommended. Many tables include both read cells and write cells and without clear guidance users may try to input in the wrong cells. By removing the Row and Cell headings and reducing the table to a single cell you to create an input field.

Start with a full Exploration.

Reduce the Exploration to the single cell you want users to use to enter data into. You may want to make a duplicate of an existing table so that you can keep the starting table as a report.

With the Exploration selected choose Table style from the Properties menu and select Hide row headers and Hide column headers

From the Exploration toolbar hide the Overview area.

Edit the title of the Exploration to provide guidance.

Repeat again for each form field and add Dimension selectors if you want users to be able to set parameters
