Symptoms

Failed in Test recovery

"Error - Failed to create snapshots of replica devices. Failed to create snapshot of replica device xxx. SRA command 'testFailoverStart' failed for device xxx. Volume cannot be created..."

User Response

  1. Run Cleanup, open SRA-STATUS file with notepad, remove the lines that have the test volume id. If no recovery plans are pending for Cleanup or Reprotect, you can delete the SRA-STATUS file. The default path of the SRA-STATUS file is C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\storage\sra\IBMSVC
  2. If there is "cannot find .... after HBA rescan." in the error message, it probably caused by HBA rescan timeout. You can increase the storageProvider.hostRescanTimeoutSec in the SRM Advance Settings.
  3. If non_preconfigured mode, verify that the test mdisk group you configured to create volumes in has enough free capacity.  You can reconfigure the test mdisk group by updating the value in SRA Utility. For SVC_SRA 2.3.1.1 or later, you can also reconfigure the test mdisk group in the SRM Add Array Manager Wizard.
  4. If non_preconfigured mode, verify that the username you configured for array is in storage Administrator Group or higher.
  5. If preconfigured mode, verify that storage admin has already created a FlashCopy(for every remote copy target volume) and mapped the FlashCopy target volume to the VMware hosts. Also if the remote copies are in one consistency group, all the related flashcopies should also be included in one FlashCopy consistency group.
