Enhancements to Usage Family Dimension
We are making enhancements to the "Usage Family” dimension on Tuesday 17th January. This update will bring an improved mapping quality and also a higher coverage for all the cost line items to be categorized into the appropriate Usage Family.
Impact:
- This enhancement will have a higher coverage. We define coverage as the percentage of cost classified out of the total and this enhancement will provide a higher coverage with almost 99 % of cost classified with the appropriate Usage family thereby reducing the unmapped cost (i.e., Other).
- This enhancement also brings in an Improved mapping quality. To consider a cost line item well classified, we have reviewed an entire quarter of cost data to improve the mapping quality. The change with this enhancement is that some of the existing Usage family categories will be remapped. All the remapped values would be an improved assignment of existing categories.
Below example gives an overview of the remapped values:
- We have also introduced two new Usage Family categories
Security (Examples: AWS: Amazon GuardDuty, EUW2-PaidKubernetesAuditLogsAnalyzed, $ per Month for Policy-WAF, Amazon Inspector UGE1-agent-assessments, Security Checks for PaidComplianceCheck, $ per endpoint hour for AWS Network Firewall; Azure: Advanced Threat Protection:Azure Database for PostgreSQL/SQL, Azure Defender::Microsoft Defender for Containers, Microsoft Defender for IoT - Managed Devices - Standard ; GCP: Clusters with Binary Authorization enabled, Cloud IDS, )
Load balancer – our previous Load Balancer Usage was too granular, and we have made some changes there.
The above changes by default will reflect on your cost line items starting January 1st, 2023. If you have a requirement for us to reflect these changes beyond the default date, please reach out to your account team or support to reprocess the data.
