IBM TechU is coming around again, as a virtual edition, October 25-28, this fall. As usual, IBM TechU has a fully loaded agenda for IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE with over 200 sessions, including 29 labs and 14 demos. Let’s take a quick look at some of the hot topics covered this year.
Get ready for the first release of z/OS® since 2019, z/OS 2.5. You’ll find everything you need to know, including what’s new in installation and management, Parallel Sysplex®, cryptography, DFMS and cloud tiering, and the IBM z/OS Authorized Code Scanner (zACS), to name a few. With 88 sessions covering z/OS, you’ll find the lectures, labs and demos you need to get up to speed. You’ll also find updates for z15, LinuxONE, zSecure, z AIOps, CICS®, Parallel Sysplex and more.
Performance is a key area of focus for many IBM TechU attendees and there is plenty of content to choose from. You’ll find deep dives on topics like processor optimization, capacity planning, In-Memory processing tips, workload management and optimization, improving performance on Linux on IBM Z, IMS tuning, and Parallel Sysplex measurement and tuning. And if you’re completely new to IBM Z or need a refresher, you’ll find an overview of the basics on z/OS performance metrics.
Beyond products and performance, there’s a whole lot more on the agenda to discover. You’ll find tracks on application development, hybrid cloud and application modernization, as well as IT automation. Looking for sessions covering key IBM Z middleware products? You’ll find plenty of content covering MQ, CICS, IMS and DB2®. Now let’s go deeper on some other key themes covered.
Focused on evolving your cloud strategy? The agenda is rich in lectures, demos and labs on various aspects of hybrid cloud. Go deep on the different ways to build a hybrid cloud platform. Learn more about getting started with APIs. Learn to leverage your current infrastructure with Red Hat OpenShift. Get hands-on experience with different scenarios such as installing an OpenShift Cluster on KVM based hypervisor on LinuxONE, using persistent storage Mongo DB and node js in an automated DevOps pipeline, creating OS command lines using z/OS Cloud Broker with OCP, deploying a containerized application on Red Hat OpenShift, and integrating IBM z/OS events and alerts into the Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps to take a hybrid, application-centric approach to incident management.
Looking to get the most out of your data with AI? Learn how to get started with AI and discover available assets a client can use to quickly drive proof of concept efforts, and other materials and resources to accelerate time to value with AI. Go deep on AIOps and learn how to avoid costly incidents and optimize your business operations. Try it with a hands-on lab and examine real machine learning use cases via DB2 and CICS performance KPIs to assess the system health at the machine speed.
Focused on security and cyber resiliency? So much to cover! Go deep on encryption and explore content – from introductory sessions to new features to best practices to hands-on labs, you can delve into pervasive encryption at whatever technical level you are looking for. Or find out how to leverage other security features and products like z/OSMF, RACF® and Hyper Protect Services. If you’re wondering about backup and recovery, look no further. GDPS® and Parallel Sysplex are covered in detail.
