Part 1: Download Files for CA + DB2
Please note, that we are going to install CA 12.0.4 and DB2 11.5.9 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. This OS is listed in the requirements report for CA 12.0.x, but not for DB2 11.5.9.
In this first part of three, you will download the required files, in part 2 you will install DB2 on your machine, and in part 3 you will perform the installation of IBM Cognos Analytics and setup your DB2 content store.
1. Install Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
It is up to you to decide if you upgrade from an earlier version of Ubunto or if you start with a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 LTS install.
2. Download Files for CA
Go to Passport Advantage and search for «IBM Cognos Analytics Administrator 12.0.4 Linux x86 Multilingual eAssembly (G0D1NML)». Download the files for 12.0.4 or use the most recent Fix from Fix Central. At least required are:
- Cognos Analytics Installer
- Cognos Analytics Server
Move or copy the files to the destination host to the root account, e.g. /root/Downloads/ibm/Cognos
3. Download Files for DB2
Download the DB2 Activation Key
Still in Passport Advantage, go back to the product page and look for «IBM DB2 Server Standard 11.5 VPC Option for IBM Cognos Analytics 12.0.4» and download the «Restricted Use Activation for Cognos 12.0.4»
Move or copy the files to the destination host to the root account, e.g. /root/Downloads/ibm/DB2
Download a suitable DB2 Version
Go to Fix Central to Download the most recent fix pack for DB2 11.5.9 (at the moment of writing this is DB2-linuxx64-universal_fixpack-11.5.9.0-FP000). Please note, that the description for the Activation Key might mention a different minor version number. The Activation Key is still working and can be applied to this DB2 version.
Move or copy the files to the destination host to the root account, e.g. /root/Downloads/ibm/DB2
