IBM® CICS® Performance Analyzer for z/OS® is a powerful off-line reporting tool to help you tune and manage your CICS systems. System programmers, performance analysts and developers can use reports and plug-in views. These tools help to identify and eliminate the causes of online performance issues, tune CICS systems for optimal performance, and analyze trends for capacity planning and performance bottlenecks.

IBM® CICS® Performance Analyzer for z/OS® (CICS PA) is constantly evolving. CICS PA 5.4 APAR PH60661 delivers enhancements to exploit Performance and Statistics changes introduced in IBM® CICS® Transaction Server (TS) for z/OS® Version 6 Release 2. In addition, other product enhancements in this APAR include:

·         Increase Selection Criteria field value length – This enhancement increases Selection Criteria field value length allowing you to specify long field values in the batch SELECT command, increasing your ability to filter records more precisely.

·         Allow APPLID and MVSID filtering against CICS PA HDB Load. This enhancement introduces the option of specifying APPLID(s) and MVSID(s) in Historical Database (HDB) Load, thus limiting the HDB to desired APPLIDs and MVSIDs.

·         Increase Queue Manager and External Sort key length limit. This enhancement increases the maximum summary key length from 255 to 4096 bytes, giving you the ability to include long fields in the summary key. This change applies to all summary style reports and Historical Databases (HDBs).

·         Support z/OS Connect SMF 123 Server Feature field. This enhancement adds support for z/OS Connect SMF 123 record Server Feature field by displaying its value in the z/OS Connect List report and allowing you to specify it as a key field in the Summary report.

·         Introduce new CICS PA derived field MAXTSKPC to display CURTASKS as a percentage of MAXTASKS. This new field gives you an indication of the CICS region task load. It is available in all Performance Forms and user-defined Templates.

·         Introduce new Statistics derived field QR TCB Dispatch / Interval Ratio in the Dispatcher TCB Modes record and sample Alerts. This enhancement introduces CICS PA Statistics derived field DSGQRDSPINR. It provides QR TCB Dispatch / Interval ratio value in the Dispatcher TCB Modes record. This new field gives you a way to describe and measure how busy a CICS region's QR TCB is.

·         Update sample Report Set ANALYTIC definitions to include z/OS Connect Requester records extract. This enhancement updates Sample Report Set ANALYTIC definitions to support the latest version of the CICS PA Dashboards that include z/OS Connect Requester records.

·         Update Container sample Forms CCLST, CCSUM to include field PGCSTHWM. Adding field PGCSTHWM to sample Forms CCLST and CCSUM allows you to monitor the storage allocated to containers for a user task.
