Truncate Server ID field to remove the domain from the FQDN

  • 1.  Truncate Server ID field to remove the domain from the FQDN

    Posted Fri September 08, 2023 11:23 AM

    Hello and Good Day!

I was wondering if there was a way to remove the domain from the FQDN in the Server ID field in ILMT?  We have ILMT 9.2.32 and BigFix version 10.0.9.21.  Not sure if the Server ID field is supposed to be just the hostname, but because of the way our servers were set up, the FQDN appears.

    Thank you!

    Abraham

    Good Day Abraham,

By default, 'Server ID' field is never just a hostname,
    Its format/template is controlled by
    two Advanced Server Settings :
    managedServerTagTemplate
    standaloneServerTagTemplate

The question is if those machines referred by you are VMs or physical.
If it shows FQDN it would suggest that those are a VMs...

Thus, the template for 'Server ID' column is managedServerTagTemplate (%VENDOR %TYPE %HOSTNAME).
So, that FQDN which you are seeing is just a '%HOSTNAME' part presenting a host name collected from hypervisor.
The value can be directly verified in vmman_scan_xxx.xml file as '<name>' under '<host_layer>'.
