  • 1.  PROD Env - BAW application deployment in PROD & DR

    Posted Wed November 01, 2023 06:19 PM

    Hi Team

    We are using BAW 20.0.0.1.

In PROD Env, We can consider both PROD and DR together.

I assume that PROD & DR have hot-hot.

Generally, When we deploy any application in PROD Env,

1.Do we need to deploy the application at both (Main) PROD & DR separately? or

2.Only need to deploy the application at (Main) PROD?

If above no2, Whenever the application deploy at (Main) PROD, The application deployed at DR server automatically?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Before discussing your PROD/DR question, I would like to alert you that BAW 20.0.0.1 was out of support on 30th April 2023 and so you should consider migrating to a more recent BAW platform. You can read about service dates for IBM BAW at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-business-automation-workflow-and-ibm-integration-designer-software-support-lifecycle-addendum.

The first thing to say about BAW PROD/DR is that this is not a hot-hot environment. IBM BAW requires constant, highly performant access to its database and so the DB server needs to be physically close to the PROD location. Given that DR site should be quite physically remote from the PROD site, it is not feasible to have both PROD and DR close to the DB server. For this reason, BAW uses a Hot-Cold DR configuration and constant replication between PROD and DR.
Given that there is DB replication, it should be that applications are deployed only at PROD, though I will confess to not being 100% certain on that part of your questions.

    Hi Stuart

Yes. We plan to upgrade it as latest version.

Yes. This is 100% exact answer. many thanks.

I have a question one more.

Can I know that where the deployed snapshot version (history) stored at DB table?

    ex)BAW_APP_V1, BAW_APP_V2 etc.

I want to see the list and status(=active or inactive or defalut etc) at PROD/DR  DB.

I'm also try to find the list first myself from DB.

Again, Thanks for your great answer and guide.

    Hello,

BAW does not document/explain the schema for the BAW database. So, while it is possible to discover some of the tables that are use, I would caution you not to rely one what you have discovered. First, you might not have discovered everything associated with the particular functional area that you're investigating. Second, it could change at any time.
