    Hi Team,
If we need to migrate 100 million documents to CP4BA(on-perm only ICN, FileNet and Datacap is using). What is your recommendations for quick migration.

    Regards,

There are many options available. Your question is very high level. You can use ICC, CEBI or similar tools to put documents in FileNet. What do you mean by "migrate"? Another ECM System? Another FileNet environment? It is pretty hard to guide with such a high-level question.

From other ECM to FileNet. I know one option is CEBI. We did many migration to FileNet. But I just want to understand what is the major difference between CP4BA (Open shift with container platform)  and FileNet 5.5.x (without containers) for migration.

What are the challenges will face for migration in CP4BA container environment? and any recommendations.

    Regards,
    Durga.

    Hi Druga,

the main difference between a traditionally deployed FN CM system and a container based one is that you can only use the WSI transport to connect to the CPE (the EJB transport is not available for containers). As most tools used to perform bulk imports into CPE like ICC or CEBI typically use the WSI transport, there is no difference from that point of view.

The main challenge I would expect is the skill which is needed to deploy and manage a container based deployment of FN CM, which is different from the skill required to deploy and manage a tWAS based traditional FN CM deployment. Once you have the FN CM environment deployed and operational, the import process should be the same for both deployment types. You can use both CEBI or ICC for files or also individually implemented import tools to bulk ingest documents into a container based FN CM deployment, assuming that you use the WSI transport for connecting to the CPE.

    Does this answer your question?

    Best regards,
    Michael

If you are talking about migrating from FileNet Traditional (WAS ND) to FileNet running in K8S, then you don't really need to move the documents.

CP4BA FileNet can use the same Databases.  Depending of what file system storage you are using for your documents, it could be reused as well with out the need to move the files.

I agree with you if it is FileNet to FileNet. But in this case it is from CMOD to FileNet(CP4BA).

Keep in mind that CMoD and FileNet are tow completely different document repositories for different business use cases with different functionalities for different document types. Therefore replacing CMoD with FileNet does only make sense in very few specific situations.
