  • 1.  Is RHEL Db2 good?

    Hi,

We've always used Db2 on Windows Server last several years and never on RHEL.

Is building Db2 on RHEL and using it with Datacap as good as Db2 on Windows Server?

Or do you always recommend Windows Server for Db2 for Datacap? Why?

Installing Db2 under Linux is fine.  I have many Datacap (DC) installs using Db2 running on RH Linux servers and well as Oracle on Linux and Exadata servers.  The database is totally independent of  DC.  Linux is more efficient than windows as an operating system - it basically uses less resources for itself.  That is why you can have fine performance using cheaper and slower CPU for Linux.  You will take a performance hit trying that under Windows.  Same for memory.  I think the install of Db2 is simpler under Linux as is maintenance - far less hidden things to deal with.
