    Hi,

We have a client, who wants a DMS solution in multiple languages (German, Italien, French, English). For the standard attributes from IBM, no problem. However, there are 25-30 custom attributes.

With ACCE, one can manually one-by-one .. multiple clicks, refreshes in between, waiting time, redoing occasional mistakes .. all this 30 times 4 languages times 1-2 minutes .. rather cumbersome and time-intensive work .. and knowing our client, we will have to repeat that more than once.

Is there an easier way to do this .. mass update by e.g. uploading an Excelsheet or a CSV file?

    Cheers, Thomas

    hi,

What client / product are you using, where you wish to check whether there is an easier way?

    Hi Nada,

We are using FN P8 Content Platform Engine 5.5.8.0 & ICN 3.0.11 with WebSphere AS 9.0.5.10

    hi Thomas,

    Thank you for your response.

I am sorry, but I still am not sure I correctly understand your query.

What is the client trying to do by this ->

"one can manually one-by-one .. multiple clicks, refreshes in between, waiting time, redoing occasional mistakes .. all this 30 times 4 languages times 1-2  minutes ."

What is being attempted here -> "s there an easier way to do this .. mass update by e.g. uploading an Excelsheet or a CSV file?"

Is the client asking whether a bulk update of custom attributes' values can be done by uploading a CSV or Excel sheet that contains the target values ?

    Hi Nada,

Have you ever tried with ACCE to define the labels of a class property in other languages than English?

With ACCE, there are 2 possibilities:

    1. The ACCE "Localize Properties Templates" (see attachment) .. you wait while the dialogue loads English, you scroll to locate the property or you filter, you select a property, you set the label, you press [Apply], you select the next language and - next cycle - you wait while the dialogue loads the next language, you scroll to locate the property or you filter, ... for 30 custom attributes you have 30 such cycles (each needs about 1 minute of time), you need to do this German, French, and Italian .. to be sure, you double-check English .. so 4 times .. easily 2-3 hours .. now over time, you need to do this multiple times ..  cumbersome
    2. Or still in ACCE, you go the "Property Templates" folder and you select the attribute, go the Properties tab, and you select the languages under "Display Names" .. at best slightly less cumbersome

So is there any other option to do this kind of work? .. the dream for any admin in non-English speaking country / for non-English speaking end-customers would be a bulk import from a CVS or Excel sheet.

    hello Thomas,

My team supports IBM Content Navigator product - we have some knowledge of ACCE but ACCE is supported by the FileNet Content Manager support team. With my limited knowledge of this area - and I have worked in this area in relation to an ICN case - there is no other procedure to set labels for other languages.  I will ask my colleagues in FileNet Content Manager support team to review and add any additional comments.
