IBM Content Manager OnDemand upgrade - performance issue [SOLVED (?)]

After upgrading IBM Content Manager onDemand for Multiplatforms from version 9.0.0.3 to version 10.1.0.11, we experienced significant performance issues when communicating with an Oracle database (version 12.1). This issue affected all the qeries we generated through the ODWEK API. For example, a simple search query for the unique ID of a document, which took us about 2 seconds before the upgrade, was returned from the ODWEK API in about 70 seconds.

Through subsequent analysis and subsequent attempts to change the CMOD communication settings with the Oracle database, we found specific settings in the CMOD product administration in the configuration section Application Group - Properties - General - Advanced.. - Database Information -->> item "query using parameter markers" . If we set this option to unchecked, queries to the database via ODWEK started returning to us again in the expected times in the order of lower units of seconds.

We found this information in the CMOD documentation:
    Query using parameter markers
Select this check box to use parameter markers. Clear this check box to turn off the parameter markers when you perform database queries.

Is there any more detail or explanation why this simple setting has such a big effect on the responses from the Oracle database when communicating through the ODWEK interface?

    Thanks for any information !!

    Best regards
