How to prevent browser from caching form fields in coach view?

  • 1.  How to prevent browser from caching form fields in coach view?

    Posted Fri November 24, 2023 11:58 PM

    Issue:

On my send email coach view, I have the "To:" field already prefilled with an email id (for example: pimtest1@us.ibm.com).

Now when I click on Cc or Bcc field,  the textbox in form field gets populated by the user.I think this creates for a confusing user experience, and would like to prevent it.

Like when I add a cc: value to the email , it changes the To: value (To: value now becomes the same as what was entered in the Cc)

Expected result:  To: field is addressed to a prefilled email id which should not change when cc or bcc is entered.

Actual result: To field value has been replaced with the new email address entered in cc /bcc

note:  checked the  browser is set to store Personal Info -  so, clicking on the cc: or bcc: field, pre-saved values display & I can select one of the values.

If I unselect these settings it will clear cache and wil no longer see this issue..However this setting will be on on any users browser and we cannot avoid this.

Is there a way to do this without manually resetting the value?

    Hi,

The image is not viewed for me.

I think, the HTML attribute you are looking for is autocomplete="off" .

Browser fill fields with personal information, if and only if you select an identity in one of the related fields. To, CC and BCC are very uncommon to be stored, but MAYBE the type of field is set to email, see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/input/email (and in particular "Offering suggested values").
