    hi Folks,

I've just come across this tiny little paragraph in the info center:

When you have multiple environments, for example test and production, ensure that the following requirements are met.

    • Every computer reports in only one of the environments.

    • Packages with results of disconnected scans from one environment are not uploaded to License Metric Tool that monitors the other environment.

Are you saying that I *MUST" run multiple ILMT Lite's if I have multiple environments - One ILMT server in each environment?

Or, are you saying that I *MAY* run multiple ILMT's if I choose, in which case don't cross-contaminate the ILMT's ?

    many thanks for the clarification.

    John.

    Hi John,

IMHO it means you should not cross-contaminate.

I suppose that during an audit you can clarify the situation, but maybe you run the risk in having to add licenses = $$.

    Cheers, Igor

Hmmm, If that were the case then why would the ILMT instructions state that you upload your passport advantage entitlement file just the once. Nope, I don't buy it. There is no other reference to this somewhat simple sentence, no topology diagram, no mention of multiple ILMT licences etc. etc. etc. Certainly, no customer I've ever known has had more than one ILMT if they had a choice :-) Albeit - they were big-fix installs.

Let's wait to see what IBM has to say (hopefully they'll clarify here or else it's a PMR from me ;-)

    cheers for now

    Hi John,

"Certainly, no customer I've ever known has had more than one ILMT if they had a choice" - so you know customers that had more than one ILMT? What do they say? And why do they have more than one ILMT?

    We have two ILMT, a V7.5 and a V9.x.

We are still running some AIX 6.1 and AIX 5.3, afaik they are not supported by V9 ILMT. There has some discussion with IBM about that, as V7.5 ILMT is not supported any more, but in the end my company gave a written statement that this was the situation and it ended with that.

But interested in what a PMR might come up with.

    Cheers, Igor
