  • 1.  Disconnected Scanner - Wrong Processor Core Count?

    Posted Mon May 09, 2022 02:24 PM

I reported this issue in the past and was told to update to the latest version of iLMT. I have done so twice now from 9.2.23 to 9.2.26 and now 9.2.27. The disconnected scanner on my IBMi is still pulling in the wrong value for processor core count. We had purchased additional procs from IBM and they are not showing in the XML generated by run_hw_console.sh.

My question is, where is wscanhw.pgm picking up the processor core count? All values in the XML output make sense except proc core count. It reports 8 and I believe it should report 12.

    Hello,

We would need some diagnostic data from that box, in order to provide you an answer.

Can you please open a case against ILMT support and upload to the case the following data:

    • disconnected scan results from that box
    • the following logs:

    <installation_directory>/logs

    and

    /etc/cit/logs/

    Thank you.

Did your issue ever get resolved? We are having a similar problem where ILMT is showing a subcap core limit of 8 but it should be 128

    Hi,

I would need more details to answer this question. Is the latest question still about IBM i? If yes, then probably the same suggestion (to open a Case and provide the evidence files) applies. If this is different OS, then I would ask first: do you have VM managers correctly configured? In some cases, VM manager of the VM needs to be configured in ILMT to get proper numbers, maybe this is your case:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=managers-virtualization-types-that-require-vm-manager-connections
