Interoperability in Blueworks Live

    Hi,
I want to know that how does interoperability works in Blueworks Live? Does using hyperlinks is an option? If Yes, then how? What are different options for the same?

Main idea is to be able to integrate.

    Thanks

    Hi,

A number of my clients are doing this. One organisation populates the "System" property from their Configuration Management Database. They have changed the System property to be an "Enumerated" value (see Defining Enumeration Values in IBM Blueworks Live ). They then use the Blueworks Live API to populate the System property along with a description and a hyperlink to the CMDB entry for that system. It is very effective.

    Hope that helps

Hi there, this is very common. We have helped many clients integrate their systems of record with the Blueworks Live glossary and other elements. Mark is correct that this is possible via the REST API. In fact, this was so common that we collected a lot of the integration requests and released a (free) reporting, analytics, and data management tool that sits on top of Blueworks Live called "Blueworks Insights". Hope this helps and feel free to try our platform!

    Hi Darren,

I want to know how can I use/take the process map created in Blueworks Live and implement/integrate it over another similar system/application which follows BPMN standards? So that the process map created in Blueworks Live is same/consistent in the newly integrated system also.

Any suggestion will be really helpful.

    Thank You.

    Ananya,

If you want to able able to use the BWL models in another modelling tool the export files (BPMN or XPDL) should be compatible with other tools that support the BPMN 2.0 standard. You will lose some of your properties if the target tool does not support those properties.

If you want to import the BPMN models from BWL into a system that can execute business processes the same applies but some tools will require the BPMN XML definition and some will require the BPMNDI (Diagram Interchange) file. BWL supplies both of these in the BPMN export zip. If you use IBM's Business Automation Workflow product the BWL models can be directly imported into its tooling with very good fidelity.

    I hope that helps.

We use URL links via the Reference link available in the Glossary. We assign reference links on documents in our document management system and to go to both internal and external website.  Before this capability was available, we would manage URL links within the documentation tab of activities and/or processes.  Our users really like the ability to assign a reference link to a URL because you can see and activate that link when viewing a process diagram by hovering over the property value in the Details tab and clicking the link. It's easy access to reference information they need.
