Stopping Asset selection by the System on SR / WO if there is only one Asset on a Location

  • 1.  Stopping Asset selection by the System on SR / WO if there is only one Asset on a Location

    Hi Guys,
Out of the Box functionality is that when a user selects a Location on SR / WO, then if there is only one Asset on that Location, then Maximo also selects the Asset on that SR / WO.
This is not desirable by our business users.
Is there a way to stop this thing
We tried to do it by Automation Script but ended up in having issues.
Can some one guide... OR... if someone has done this already... can you share the solution and any automation script which is used and tested?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Is this what you're looking to achieve?

    Cheers,

This has been a long standing request for enhancement (https://ibm-ai-apps.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/MASM-I-265). If this is important to you, I'd suggest voting for it as well.

I haven't tried this crossover domain approach specifically but have done this for customers via automation script. If this approach doesn't work for you let us know.

We've gone the automation script route as well, primarily because other fields that natively cross over from the asset (such as failure code, GL, etc.) have to be nulled as well.  So if you use any of those, be sure to test for that scenario.

Hi Guys... Any update on this.. we tried automation..  but couldn't get it done...
Is there any solution n MAS 8??

For the issue.... Jut to clarify again...
We are on 7.6.1.2. We have many locations, where there is only one Asset.
In this case, when location is selected ... the asset is also populated... but the work has to be done on Location.. not on Asset..
Can some one share the exact step by step solution... plus the full automation scrips and any other thing...

our team is unable to get this done..
Please help it is becoming critical with us

I know RFE will take much time...

Can you clarify why the existing solutions that have been posted aren't working for you? For example: "When I'm in Y application and I do step 1, then 2, then 3 the ASSETNUM isn't cleared even though I deployed Z solution".  Something like https://bportaluri.com/2018/08/disable-automatic-asset-location.html which was posted previously looks like it should work so I need to understand why that doesn't work to provide recommendations around how to fix it.

    Hi Steve and André,
We used this and it is working
Am not sure, why this was not working for us... as we tried using this previously also... but it caused issues in Drilldown.. but this time.. it worked..
Although interesting... but main thing is.. it worked...
    Thanks all... appreciate ur help

This behaviour is extremely frustrating when you are just starting out adding Asests.

Suddenly every WO raised in a location gets the one same Asset applied to it.

Check out the work history on that Asset and all work has been loaded against it as Maximo 'helps you out'.
