    Dear Sir and Madam,

I'm a hardware engineer and learning how SysML can help me to design hardware components. Especially we integrate mechanical, electrical harness and PCBs to very intelligent devices for our customers.
For requirement specification we use IBM Doors, but most of the interaction during devolpment in mechanical, harness and PCBs is done by ICD documents and a lot of handwork. I would like to try how SysML can help me to run a good change management and link to Doors.

At this time we're just in the beginning of the process. We can't change the whole development process from one day.
I would like to know if there is any possiblity to use custom table views for ICD definitions?
If found an example for MagicDraw, an know there's a way to create custom tables with embedded Java. But I couldn't find any documentation.
Have a look at to link at the bottom to see what I mean with ICD tables.

Does anybody can give me a few keywords how I can implement this?

    Best regards,
    Sascha

One of the great things about Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is that the system model enables us to run all kinds of analyses, for example regarding the consistency, or compliance with company guidelines, to create reports and perform simulations.

Sure you can do this - attached is a package you can add to your model that shows a proxy port table - you can tweak it to your needs - it only took a few minutes to create

    Hi Andy,
thank you. This helps me to create an ICD view for a connection cable or connection between different devices.

Now I try to find to create an ICD view for hardware devices.
    F.g.
    DeviceName   ConnectorName  PinNo   SignalName
    Computer         COM1                   1           GND
    Computer         COM1                   2           RX
    Computer         COM1                   3           TX
    [....]

    Best regards,
    Sascha

    Hi,

I worked on my model and thank you for your explanaition. It worked.
To describe the model of the Interface I although implemented a table and it looks ok. I used some of the tags parameter to manage the direction and the cable diameter. I'm not sure if this is a common way.
    So I have two tables:
    - ICD (interface connection diagram), looks simular to your table.
    - Interface description (here I used some "Advanced Table" properties found in the "Case Study: Handoff to Downstream Engineering" for IBM Harmony. {pkg},{class}, etc.

    Question:
It is possible to add custom tags to port in the way you decribed?
F.g. custom Tag for the port properties. Connector name (fg. J100), connector type (Molex XXX)
Background is to generate some implementation tables for my hardware engineers.

    Best regards,
    Sascha
