  • 1.  Maximo 7.6.1.3 installation

    Posted Tue October 01, 2024 03:04 PM

    Hi,

I have to install vanilla Maximo 7.6.1 and upgrade it to  7.6.1.3. This will be needing upgrading from 7.6.1.2 to 7.6.1.3 however which in turn needs WebSphere and db2 upgrade as well.

Is it possible to directly install Maximo 7.6.1.3 as it will avoid upgrading of WebSphere and db2.

    Hi Kumar,

Please follow the below steps. There is no requirement to follow the path of 7.6.1->7.6.1.2->7.6.1.3

    1. Install vanilla Maximo 7.6.1 with the supported versions of DB2 and WebSphere using the Installation Manager.
    2. Download the 7.6.1.3 fix pack from Fix Central by selecting the installed version as Maximo 7.6.1.
    3. Add the 7.6.1.3 fix pack reference in the Installation Manager and relaunch it. Select the update option, and it will display the details for updating to 7.6.1.3.

As there are no significant structural changes between Maximo versions 7.6.1.1 and 7.6.1.3, you can proceed with a fresh installation of Maximo 7.6.1.3 and perform a data migration from the previous version. Below are the steps you need to follow for this process:

Steps for Fresh Installation and Data Migration:

    1. Pre-Installation Preparation:

      • Verify hardware and software requirements for Maximo 7.6.1.3.
      • Ensure that you have a full backup of your current Maximo 7.6.1.1 environment, including the database and application files.
      • Document the current system configuration, integrations, and customizations.
    2. Installation of Maximo 7.6.1.3:

      • Download the Maximo 7.6.1.3 installation files from IBM's Fix Central.
      • Install the latest version of WebSphere or your preferred application server if required.
      • Perform the fresh installation of Maximo 7.6.1.3 on your server, following IBM's installation guide.
    3. Database Migration:

      • Export the data from your existing Maximo 7.6.1.1 database.
      • Migrate the data into the new Maximo 7.6.1.3 database using the appropriate database migration tools.
      • Ensure that all historical and transactional data is successfully migrated.
    4. Post-Installation Configuration:

      • Reconfigure any integrations, reports, and customizations as per the new installation.
      • Set up security groups, user roles, and any new features available in Maximo 7.6.1.3.
      • Perform necessary testing to ensure the new environment is fully functional.
    5. Data Validation and Testing:

      • Validate that all data has been correctly migrated and that the system is operating as expected.
      • Conduct performance and integration testing to ensure smooth functionality across all modules.
    6. Go-Live and Support:

      • Once everything is validated, plan the go-live process with minimal downtime.
      • Monitor the system closely post-migration and address any issues that arise.

    Hi Kumar,

Unfortunately, there is no fresh/complete Maximo 7.6.1.3 install. You're going to have to start at 7.6.1.2 and run the various upgrades.

    Hi Kumar,

You need to have a previous 7.6.1 version of Maximo Asset Management installed to upgrade to 7.6.1.3. This includes- 7.6.1, 7.6.1.1, and 7.6.1.2.
Here is a read me from IBM with details on changes and the steps-  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-readme-ibm-maximo-asset-management-7613-fix-pack.
