    Hello All,

Does anyone know when is the release date for MAS 8.9? (and also the new features list?).

    Thank you!

Always subject to change but the plan is for November 22nd for the release date. My role is primarily focused on Manage/Maximo Mobile so I can't speak for additions to the other products. This list also isn't exhaustive for these products but gives an idea of some of the things we're working on.

    Licensing
Environments can be established as Prod/Non-Prod which will allow you to only license the Production system for per-install components (Spatial, Assist, SAP Adapter, etc.). This has been a common request.

    Manage
Some of the Work Centers and all the Anywhere applications will be removed in this release. We've posted this a few different places (including Kim's blog post here: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/asset-facilities/blogs/kim-woodbury1/2022/08/16/deprecation-of-manage-work-centers-and-anywhere-in?CommunityKey=3d7261ae-48f7-481d-b675-a40eb407e0fd) but it's worth re-emphasizing

We're updated to Java 11, Cloud Pack for Data 4.5, and OpenShift 4.10
New role-based applications (Scheduling Dashboard, Work Orders, Workflow Assignments, & API Key) built on the Maximo Application Framework. Work Orders & Workflow Assignments are grouped together under the Maintenance Manager project and will add a Dashboard component in future releases. The Scheduling Dashboard utilizes the Maximo Optimizer and supports a wide variety of capabilities.

    Maximo Mobile
Our first release of the asset data manager application. Initially this is a read-only view of data.
Inspections will support an alternative status instead of Complete for indicating that it's ready to be reviewed. This status is still editable but indicates the technician is "done" with it
Inspections will better support batch inspections
Inspections will now allow you to search for specific questions on the form
Service Requests will now support location drilldown, capturing GPS, & adding service address information
Many enhancements to the map experience including indoor maps.

Hi Steven, I have Manage related question.

Is OpenShift SNO (available from 4.9 onwards) also going to be supported for production (or is allready)?

Reason for asking this question: we have clients who want to stay on-premise for various reasons (edge locations, security reasons, intermittent,  very low bandwidth connectivity or high latency connections) and are completely satisfied using Maximo (Manage) and want to use it in the future. As it stands for now - to continue running Maximo on premises beyond 2025 - those clients would need to deploy fully-scaled OpenShift toplogy. In our cases, clients operate with very limited space, resources, as well as power and cooling – they have environments suited for a single server topology (which SNO is) and aren't interested in deploying fully-scaled OpenShift toplogy (or they can't do it).

    Thank you

    Janez

We have documentation on it (such as https://community.ibm.com/community/user/asset-facilities/blogs/brian-zhu/2022/09/09/running-mas-manage-maximo-8x-on-a-single-node-open?CommunityKey=3d7261ae-48f7-481d-b675-a40eb407e0fd) but it's not officially supported yet. The version of OpenShift we currently ship (4.8) doesn't support SNO. With 4.10 being provided in MAS 8.9, the OpenShift platform would support it.

Disclaimer: I can't announce what we'll officially support for a production deployment and something like this can change at any time prior to release. But my understanding is that we'll support it in 8.9 for MAS core & Manage (no industry solutions/add-ons) and will have a GitHub link to help you get started. 8.10 we want to have the industry solutions/add-ons tested and supported and build out some additional documentation.

We have ideas for it (https://ibm-ai-apps.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/MASM-I-800 & https://ibm-ai-apps.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/MASM-I-766) but it hasn't been committed to any particular release yet. I would keep an eye on these ideas (and vote if you haven't already) because we typically post updates to the ideas when the functionality is planned.

    Dianne,

You can go to the external facing IBM Offerings page and subscribe here to get updates.  This will keep you up to date on releases on all IBM Software products.  You can search for any term.  If you use "Maximo Application Suite" (with Double Quotes) and filter on language and country you will still get quit a lot of hits. However the 8.8 release notes will be in there.  So then it is a matter of subscribing and you should then get notified when 8.9 comes out with release notes. I just learned of this site and have not yet had any notifications myself.  I hope this helps.
