    I am relatively new to Maximo but have a pretty solid understanding of the procument modules (Purchase Requistions, Purchase orders) but I am trying to find out if there is a way to create blanket purchase orders. in my specific context, we have a company that drops off welding gas each week and right now we need to create a PO each week for each order. I would like to create one PO for the year that can then have release issued against it each week whent he welding gas is delivered. I can't seem to find this functionality.

    Upon PR Approval, the PR can be converted into a PO as usual, but it can also be converted into a Contract using the Create Contract command.  When doing that, you can specify whether it will be a Blanket contract.


    Once the Blanket contract is approved, you can create Release POs referencing it, which will draw down on the funds.  Release POs can be created two ways:
    1.  Create a PR and fill in the Contract Reference field on the main tab.  You can then use the Contract Items button to create the PR lines.  Once approved, this PR will automatically create a release PO.
    2.  Go into the Purchase Contracts screen, retrieve the contract, and use the Create Release PO command.  

    The other possibility is to create a regular PO for the yearly amount, and then the receiver can just receive whenever a shipment is dropped off.  This streamlines the processing of receipts and invoices, but the PO will have a huge amount of transactions to reconcile of something goes wrong with the invoicing.

    Hi Darcy Bell,

    In my opinion, you can create a Blanket Contract under Contracts Module. There is a check box which says Create Release PO, we can check that and save the contract. Under More Actions, authorize sites for this contract and then approve the contract. Once the contract is approved, we can create a Release PO from this contract.
