BIM - Forge Viewer not highlighting asset or zoom in on asset

  • 1.  BIM - Forge Viewer not highlighting asset or zoom in on asset

    Posted Tue July 05, 2022 01:05 PM
I have installed the Maximo Forge Viewer Plugin in Maximo.
    (https://community.ibm.com/community/user/iot/viewdocument/maxmo-forge-viewer-plugin-version?CommunityKey=7f1637b5-e23d-4694-a843-ab9c5b205d49&tab=librarydocuments)

Then using Imported the COBie import Assets and created the required items and added a Revit file.

When I go to the 3D tab at an Asset or Location, the drawing is shown. However, the viewer does not zoom in to the relevant Asset or location, nor is it highlighted.

Because I wasn't sure if I installed and configured everything correctly at first, I used the demo data that came with the plugin. It does work with the demo data.

What could be the cause of the plugin not zooming in and highlighting the Asset or Location?

    Hello,
I assume the Executive briefing center sample file is working on import?  If so and the file you loaded is not then it mostly has to do with how the COBie file was generated or the setting for import.  When you performed the COBie export from Revit what unique identifier was used?  What is the value in the ExtIdentifier field of your COBie spreadsheet and what are the import settings used during the import session?

    Hello Thomas,

The Executive briefing center sample file is working on import.

We received the COBie file from our customer, I don't know what settings are used to generate the file.

The GUID is used as the unique identifier.

An example line from the COBie file:

The extidentifier field contains the guid from Revit.

    Settings used for import:

Graphical user interface, text Description automatically generated

Graphical user interface, text, application, email Description automatically generated

Graphical user interface, text, application, email Description automatically generated

Graphical user interface Description automatically generated

I also send the working sample COBie and .rvt files to the customer so they can compare the settings.

Assume you are testing the import process in a test environment, remove the data loaded and try the import again but this time do not check "Convert Revit Unique IDs to Export GUIDs?"

    Hello Thomas,

I'm indeed working on a test environment.

I have multiple COBie files and tried this with one of the files.

I used a different prefix for the asset so I can recognize them in Maximo.

However, the result is the same.

    Are those screens from MAS?

Because they seem to have more options, or at least a different layout from Maximo V7.6.1.2

    Thanks,

How do I check this please?
You seem to have more options listed here than I do, or at least they're grouped together differently.

Under Assets > Manage BIM Viewer > 3D View > Forge Viewer Settings gear cog icon I see View V6.6.4 bottom right hand corner.

    Thanks 😉

    Hi Dirk,

At the customer where I have been working to install ForgeViewer and import the data, this is currently at a standstill.

I have not received any new COBie files from the customer to be able to test it further.

    Hi all,

after understanding the differences between IFC ID, GUID and Revit UniqueId we finally could solve the problem.

In our case we had Revit UniqueIds in the Cobie file, so we had to uncheck the "Convert IFC IDs to GUIDs" and check the "Convert Revit Unique IDs to Export GUIDs" checkbox.

My current understanding (please correct my if I'm wrong) is that a the format of the different IDs look like this:

Revit Unique ID: 60f91daf-3dd7-4283-a86d-24137b73f3da-0001fd0b  (Format: 8-4-4-4-12-8 hexadecimal characters)
    GUID:
    60f91daf-3dd7-4283-a86d-24137b720ed1                 (Format: 8-4-4-4-12 hexadecimal characters)
    IFC ID
    1W_HslFTT2WwXj91DxSWxH

Thanks to Jeremy Tammik for his explanation at:
    https://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/blog/2009/02/uniqueid-dwf-and-ifc-guid.html

Depending on the format of the ExtIdentifier you have to tick or untick the checkboxes in the import cobie data dialog.
