  • 1.  ITNM - EIGRP Peer Count

    Posted Fri August 13, 2021 02:53 PM
Hi,  I am new to ITNM and I am trying to setup a poller using a Generic Threshold  to monitor EIGRP peer counts on a specific interface (Tunnel0) on routers
I am using the cEigrpPerrCount mib , I am struggling figuring out how to filter on the interface.
If I use the interface filter in the poller  I get no data, if I leave it blank  I get data for all interfaces

    thanks for any assistance
    regards
    Sean

    Hi Sean,
I guess you already know the documentation?

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/networkmanager/4.2.0?topic=definitions-example-trigger-clear-thresholds

I would say your sample highly depends on the MIB you want to integrate.

There is a video which may give you a better overview of the product:

    Fred

I have tried both basic and general thresholds with no luck, the problem is the cEigrpPeerCount  has a &SNMP.INDEX.cEigrpPeerCount value  like 65536.100.x. and x being the index to the ifTable
I can't figure out how to filter the data returned to only match on the index that aligns with interface Tunnel0

See attached  screenshots of MIB walks, poller settings and Event output

    Thanks Krishna

I am not sure any of the options will work as the interface index will change  depending on the router being polled
I am not sure I can create a probe rule that would get the current ifIndex for say "Tunnel0" and then use that to match the values in the table results.
    Thanks for your  response.
    I have opened a case

    Hi Sean,

We don't need to know exact index as long as we can identify that specific interface via ifDescr/IfAlias etc (for e.g. any IF-MIIB variable), in this case like I said earlier 'ifDescr like 'Tunnel0' may be best fit. I'll look into Support case and we can discuss over Webex to make this easier. FYI - probe rules task may sound like bit of work...but its much simpler given we'll have enough topology context to discard (non-tunnel interface alerts) and send only events you need - some info at - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/networkmanager/4.2.0?topic=reference-network-manager-event-data-fields. Thank you for opening Case, at times, its much easier that route...

    Best Regards,
    Krishna.
