Use of New License Key on SPSS Version 26 caused issues

    For some reason, when I used the new license key, all of my sav data associated with my spv files was deleted. See screenshot attached. If anyone has had this issue/knows how to solve it this would be greatly appreciated as this is my thesis data. Thanks!

    Hi @Annie Reiner ,
    There is a mix of information in your description that needs to be unpacked.

    You say you encountered this problem after you applied a new license code for IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 for macOS.  The screenshot you submitted is demonstrating functionality (Auto-recovery) not introduced until IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0.  The "What's new" pane is advertising functionality (Linear Lasso Regression) not introduced until IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.

    So let's assume you are on IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.  In that case, applying an IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 license code should have done nothing (if you already had a 29.0 code applied) or it would have thrown licensing errors and not let you run the program at all.

    The Welcome Screen and Auto Recovery pane is showing you that the data file,  in use the last time your state was automatically saved, is no longer at that location. On IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.0.0 or 29.0.1.0 for macOS, the file underlying that display would be located under your user home directory structure.  For example, my username is 'david' and my Autorecovery information is stored here:

    "/Users/david/Library/Application Support/IBM/SPSS Statistics/one/autoRecovery"

    Inside that ../autoRecovery folder will be one or more "recover" folders.  Inside each of those will be a file with ".json" extension (e.g. "1685724378050.json")

    This just a text file.  Open this file with your favorite text editor and seek out the filename
    Above you see the path and filename for the file that was in use when this autorecovery information was saved.

    Check the autorecovery .json file in your own installation.  Compare the location given with the location where you normally store your data files.  If they are the same, then at some point you must have done something to move or delete this file.  Is it in the Trash?  Is a back up stored someplace else?  Have you moved the folder or the file under a different path?
