Hi @Teresa Schreckenbach,
Ah ha! Thank you for that key piece of information. It has been a while since I've encountered an issue like this with the macOS user profile. Please see this Technote and let us know if this resolves the issue for your main login credential.

Hi David,
thank you for the information. I will try to open a licensing case.
In the meantime I can say its not a problem with the license. I am not sure, if it help with finding the reason of this problem, but a friend of me suggested, I should install a second user account on my computer and install SPSS there. So I did, and SPSS is working fine there ... its a little complicated, as I have to change between the user accounts, but it works. It seems, there is something on my normal account which is interfering with SPSS.
Kind regards,
Teresa

Hi @Teresa Schreckenbach
I've received a Support case from another user reporting much the same behavior as you. Please open a Licensing case of your own, so that I can be sure to keep you updated when I find the root cause and ultimately the fix.

Hi,
so, I tried SPSS Version 29 on my older computer (mac, running with Catalina, never problems with SPSS on it). It is still not working. After having a look in SPSS on one of my students computer (windows), I saw, that in my topmost line not only Graphs and Help is missing, but also Extras, Extensions (not sure, if this is correct in English) and Window (also not sure, if I translated this right) are missing. I also had a programmer take a look to see if the shell script ran correctly. And yes, it's done correctly.
I can't believe, IBM should not be able to solve this problem ...
Kind regards

Hi Teresa,
At this point, no. Are you able to open a Support case here? It will be under the "Open a case" button in the blue box at the top right of the browser window. We may need to delve into your licensing -- and that will require exchanging personal information not appropriate for this public forum.

Hi David,
sorry, it is deep in the night here or nearly morning, so my english does not get any better ...
... after learning what a shell script is, and how to run it ... (it is now a prerequisite for the use of SPSS that one is also a programmer?)
and after I manually checked again all files specified in the shell-script that they are gone
and reinstalled SPSS
... it is still not working ... looks exactly the same: missing analyzes, no graph-field, no help-field.
In all the 20 years I have been using SPSS, I have never had such a problem.
Are there any other suggested solutions?
Kind regards,
Teresa

Hi @Teresa Schreckenbach,
There are multiple Editions of the IBM SPSS Statistics Graduate Pack. The SURVIVAL command is part of the Advanced Statistics module. Advanced Statistics is present in the "Graduate Pack Standard for Students" and "Graduate Pack Premium for Students" Editions. If you've purchased the "Graduate Pack Base for Students" edition, that would explain the lack of an "Analyze -> Survival ..." menu item.
I would expect to see the "Help" menu item as a topmost menu of its own, not part of "Analyze"
I don't recognize a "Diagram" menu item. Do you mean "Graphs"?
On macOS, uninstalling and reinstalling can become tricky:
- See this technote for a complete cleanse of SPSS Statistics from your system prior to installing this version.
- Remember to login as an Administrator user in order t do the SPSS Statistics installation.
- Be sure to license your SPSS Graduate Pack for Students with the "Standard" or "Premium" editions in order to get the Advance Statistics module and the Survival procedure.
I hope this helps!

Hi!
Hope, somebody can help with the following:
I have a problem with SPSS Version 29, GrandPack. The programm is installed on a Mac Ventura 13.2.1. When opening SPSS in the Field "Analyze" important analyzes, like survival, are missing. Also missing in the headline is a "Diagram"-Field and a "Help"-Field.
I have already deinstalled and reinstalled SPSS and have installed fixes. I have also checked Java, which seems to run an the latest version.
What could be the problem and how could I solve it.
Thank you in advance,
Teresa
