    Hello,

I'm newbie to chatbots world. I have worked some with RASA but nothing with Watson Assistant. I know that we have with Watson a services like Speech to Text but dont know if its posible to integrate in Watson Assistant or if there are other services that could help giving more accessibility to users with limited vision or restricted mobility,....

My cuestion is related to how to get (more) accessibility in "chatbots"? any resource, demo, product, service,...

    Thanks in advanced.

    Hello Gabriel,

Watson Assistant is easy.  Just follow the online tutorial (https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/assistant?topic=assistant-getting-started) to get yourself started.

As far as accessibility is concerned, you can use the Watson Speech capabilities (Text To Speech and Speech to Text) in conjunction with Watson Assistant fairly easily.  You can integrate this into an omnichannel (web, mobile, voice)  experience pretty easily as well - just check out the content on your deployment options (https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/assistant?topic=assistant-deploy-overview).  There are also demos, sample apps, and resources out in the online documentation (https://cloud.ibm.com/docs/assistant?topic=assistant-sample-apps), and I maintain a GitHub project with a landing page of links to specific topics of interest on Watson Assistant (https://public-data-and-ai-csm.github.io/Public-DataAI-Assets/Watson_Assistant.html).

    Hello Daniel,

Thank you very much for resources!

I'm not accessibility expert but we have been asked about it and we are concerned about it. Not sure but maybe the accessibility need to be get at channel (web, mobile) level and not at service level so my question have not sense, but if your web need to be accessible and it is, then you need to include your chatbot (in that case Watson Assistant) in your channel, is this service/feature accessible or is "certified" for accessibility?

I have found this others resources in redbooks site.

These appear to be beautiful books.
However, they were published in 2017, or about 5 years ago.
I have found even current classes on Cloudera are teaching technical concepts no longer available.

An unsolicited a word of caution about the posted Redbook links.
Before you decide to invest a lot of learning time in these books you may want to compare content with the current documentation. Many things have been deprecated or have changed significantly.

    Hello Billy,

Totally agree Billy! I'm aware about 5 years it's a life.

I have only shared it for the references to the concepts I'm going try to share updated reference.

As I've said, I'm trying to get the key concepts from an accessibility point of view to keep in mind when we're working with virtual assistant and to check if Watson Assistant meet them.

One is Speech to Text and Text to Speech, but are there others? I have said that perhaps my point of view is wrong because this type of accessibility must be obtained outside the product or services (Watson Assistant) for example at the device level.

Many thank for your points Billy.

    Regards

The aspect of your question that interests me the most is the question concerning accessibility.
My biggest concern: "Does my course (wrt WA) comply with accessibility guidelines".

    Hello Billy

That's our concern too. We are putting this feature as an improvement, is accessible to all the people?
