Five Reasons We Would Nominate You as an IBM Champion

By Kristen Meren posted Tue September 25, 2018 05:40 PM

Hello community! Did you know IBM Champion nominations are in full swing? They end in about a month, and the community managers here at IMWUC are working on selecting our nominees for submission. Obviously, we feel like the community is the best spot to showcase your contributions to the technical community, and I’m about to back that up with some ways to get noticed!

Number 1: The Super Active Answer Giver

IBM Champions don’t have to know everything or every product, but we love when we see a “regular” in the discussion forums who is consistently helping their peers better use cloud products. If you are one of those members we can count on to swoop in and help give input, we would love to nominate you!

Number 2: Be a Regular, Demo-Doing Webcast Presenter

No surprise here, but community members respond really well to the technical webcasts that are broadcast through the community. We’re always interested in finding new presenters with the freshest perspectives and demos. Webcast presenters have a big spotlight that makes it easy for us to see and nominate you.

Number 3: Write Some Totally Technical Blogs

Spoiler alert: I don’t always understand the content that you fine people send me, but I know a ton of people read our blog posts! When you blog, a couple of things happen. One, you solidify your knowledge by documenting it (and you can show it off to your boss). And two, you share that knowledge with other people who need it.

Number 4: Do Something Significant with a Local User Group

We’ve got some stellar user groups and leaders in our community! We also have members who contribute by presenting at these events, so fear not if you can’t commit to leading a group. We like to recognize anyone involved in these groups that will go above and beyond the call of duty.

Number 5: Listen to @Libby Ingrassia and the Super Helpful Hints from IBM

As I was writing this list I realized IBM had one-up on me; they already have a ‘Top Five’ published on developerworks! Some super valuable quick tips that I would be remiss to leave out:

  1. Evangelize and advocate for IBM
  2. Share knowledge and expertise
  3. Help grow and nurture the community
  4. Expand reach across the IBM portfolio
  5. Provide feedback on IBM products and direction

And there you have it, folks: a Top Five within a Top Five! You may receive an email in the next couple weeks from myself, @Kelsy Tibshraeny or @Leandra Naranjo, User Group Manager asking if you would mind us submitting a nomination on your behalf! If not, you can always nominate yourself, or someone else who is a great candidate.
