1779 Stena Drilling story of MAS upgrade with multiple remote production instances and zero downtime

Mon October 13, 2025 10:16 AM

This session is a case study of Maximo to Maximo Application Suite (MAS) upgrade done by Cohesive for Stena Drilling. Stena Drilling is a operator of a fleet of 6 drilling vessels. Due to the remote geographical location of vessels and intermittent lack of connectivity each vessel runs its own local Maximo instance (as an air-gapped deployment), which are replicated to a central instance. Project included upgrading all instances to MAS, moving central instance to cloud and migrating from MS SQL to IBM DB2 database. We are going to show both the unique deployment architecture, challenges we faced during project and also how we achieved zero downtime switchover from Maximo EAM to MAS.
