To address your first point, I am working with the Product Manager @Andrew Edeento create documentation around how Service Prices and Demand versions work together. In the meantime, please let Andrew or me know if you if you have any specific use cases or question you want answered and we will incorporate them into the new topic.
To your second point, I will update this article to clarify that the charges are seen in the Ledger but are generated here.

Please could we have a document which explains how Service Prices and demand plan versions work together? It seems like Service Prices can be published to specific versions of the plan, but it's not clear what the best practice workflow is for SDP and what order things should happen.
Also, this should be corrected in the document above:
"NOTE The Service Pricing view and the Incoming Demand view are the pages in Service Demand Planning (SDP) where you can see the charges generated for your services and see service revenue"
as you do not see charges (or revenues) in the Service Pricing view.
