Any Experience with the CACHE parms for LOOKUP Provider?

Does anyone have experience with the CASHE parms for the LOOKUP Provider?  I have this from the online doc:

    Cache parameters
     [ CACHE = { MEMORY | MEMFILE | N } ] ,
     [ CACHESIZE = cache-size-integer ] ,
     [ TMPDIR = " temp-directory-location ] " ,

    CACHESIZE
Specifies the size of the in-memory cache in KB. This size represents only the in-memory size of the cache. If CACHE=MEMFILE , the cache is limited only by the operating system file limitations. Specify a value (in KB) in the range 1 - 2,147,483,647 (2 GB). The default value is 32 KB.

All that and some more can be found on the knowledge center page:  https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSMLQ4_11.3.0/com.ibm.nex.mod.doc/topics/opmod-r-lookup_service_provider.html

When we specify CACHE=MEM and CACHESIZE=some large number, the convert fails and we get a message that says "unable to increase cache size".  Is there some Linux parameter that is limiting us to 100000?  I was assuming that the best performance result if we made the CACHESIZE large enough to handle an entire lookup table of account numbers.

    Any insight would be helpful.
