  • 1.  Optim Related Sessions/Activities at IBM Think 2019

Does IBM or the User Group have an idea of the Optim-related topics, sessions, activities, etc. that will be at the Think Conference in February 2019? We have not attended the conference recently since it seemed to get tilted much more towards analytics and away from topics like Data Management. Registration deadline with early-bird discount is coming up in November, so it would be nice to have an idea of what Optim-centric topics will be available in order to weigh if it's worth attending next year.

If anyone has info to share, it is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, Keith. We plan to have an OVUG meeting during Think, possibly on Sunday, Feb 10th.  I also have 2 presentations approved, one with Jeff Crose of Alaska Airlines, and the other with the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I'll let the IBMers add other Optim sessions...

    Hi Keith,

Sorry for the delay, missed this thread -

As Marc said above, we're aiming to have an OVUG meeting the week of Think - though it may be Monday this year instead of Sunday. I'm hoping to have our OVUG date/time finalized in the next couple of weeks based off of the plans for the Think Community Day which have yet to be released.

UG&I currently has 7 Optim sessions including Marc's sessions above (trying to see if we can get 1 more), and there are a few more that feature Optim products. I've listed them all below.

Most Think sessions can be found here: My IBM - Events - IBM Think. Some abstracts aren't showing up currently due to the review process, but I will create a blog post on this community tomorrow with more Think details and include the abstracts.

Please note, the below sessions are subject to change based on speaker availability.

    Optim Sessions:

    • 1584A Fly Safely with Fast, Accurate Test Data Management with Jeff Crose from Alaska Airlines and Marc Hebert from Estuate
    • 2556A The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Reduces the Risk of Data Breaches for Medicaid Data with Mukundan Srinivasan from Commonwealth of Virginia and Marc Hebert from Estuate
    • 4132A Test Data Fabrication or Masking - Looking Past the Religious Wars to the Facts with Marc Moncelle and Jared Wagner from State Farm Insurance
    • 4435A Innovative Use Cases to Solve Complex Flat File Masking Problems with IBM Optim Connect and ODPP with Tammy Forlenza from Ally Financial
    • 6874A Discover's Journey in Test Data Management Value Creation with Sheshagiri Rao from Discover Financial Services
    • TBD with business partner Leftshift
    • 6721A Managing Data across Its Lifecycle the IBM Optim Way with Peter Costigan and Ken Berridge from IBM

    Featuring Optim:

    • 3224A Mainframe DevOps: Automated Continuous Testing with IBM's Suite of Tools with David Huber from U.S. Bank
    • 4410A How the IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator Saved My Life with Jared Wagner from State Farm Insurance

please reach out if you have any questions,
    Katie
