    Hi,

Our development environment is based on Ubuntu Linux machines. i was wondering if anybody has been successful to install the IBM Rational Rhapsody Development tool in a Ubuntu machine.

I really wanted to do the same thing but have ended up having a WIndows dev environment and a Ubuntu dev environment.  Rhapsody runs in Windows and manages the build on the Ubuntu VM using ssh. If IBM were to re-support Linux then my build server and dev environments would be greatly simplified.  If you create some scripts to synchronise your generated files from WIndows to Ubunu (eg: using rsync) then trigger the build, these scripts can be called by the invokeMake property (mine is called linuxsshmake.bat).

IBM has discontinued the Mainsoft library based native Linux versions of Rhapsody after v8.3.1, when their internal development moved to a newer version of Visual Studio.
I believe, there are still plans on the roadmap, to return to a Linux hosted version in the future, by moving to a Wine based solution. But this is not short term.

I had been running the older version on RedHat and SuSE Linux, but never tried Ubuntu.

Currently I'm running the latest versions of Rhapsody in a windows machine inside a VM on an intel based MacBook Pro:

A similar solution should be possible on an Intel/AMD x86 based Ubuntu machine.
