Last month, IBM introduced the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite, an open, integrated platform – embedded with AI and blockchain – for building and extending business networks. This new offering represents an important evolution of our multi-enterprise business network strategy and builds upon the momentum of the past year, which included a number of major releases you may already be taking advantage of:

  • The launch of the IBM Sterling Inventory Visibility service – watch the webcast and read the post
  • A major update for IBM Sterling Store Engagement, including Store Inventory Management
  • The new Results Explainer capability for IBM Sterling Fulfillment Optimizer with Watson – read the blog
  • The Self-Service Admin Tool that makes it easy to manage your cloud settings

It’s been a busy and exciting period, culminating in the recent launch. Now that a few weeks have passed since the announcement, you may have some questions. That’s why we’ve scheduled an online session with two IBM Sterling experts – our CTO and our Director of Innovation – on November 14th at 11am EST. You can save your seat here.

I thought I’d also take the opportunity to answer a couple of the most frequently asked questions from our order management and fulfillment users.

  1. What is the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite?
The IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite builds upon the framework of a multi-enterprise business network, which Gartner defines as “a community of trading partners that have agreed to work and communicate/collaborate on business processes that extend across multiple enterprises, with an end-to-end/shared focus.”

We provide frictionless, secure connectivity and collaboration with customers, partners and suppliers through our business network. We provide supply chain specific, AI-enabled applications that deliver real-time insights and best action recommendations, enabled with blockchain to provide trusted transparency. In addition, we are delivering a supply chain platform that is open to developers and enabled to support hybrid deployment. The IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite brings this all together so that you can build intelligent, self-correcting supply chains that help you not only solve problems, but also get ahead of them.

      2. How does this announcement impact my investment in my current order management and fulfillment solutions?
This announcement allows you to get more from your existing solutions. None of your current solutions change – in fact, many of our supply chain offerings are components of the Suite. As your business and needs grow and evolve, this enables you to build on what you have to expand and add new capabilities. It’s going to be easier than ever to optimize your operations, get added value from your current solutions, and to continue to partner with IBM to build an intelligent, self-correcting supply chain. Essentially, you'll be able to more easily maximize the return on your current investment by adding new capabilities to solve specific pain points.

You probably have more questions so don’t miss the chance to have them answered next week.
Join us on 11/14 @ 11:00 AM EST for an online session with two IBM Sterling experts, Marshall Lamb, Distinguished Engineer and CTO, and Shari Diaz, Director of Innovation, Strategy and Operations. They’ll share more detail on our strategy and answer more questions. Please save your seat.
