While disposing the drives, the data on them can be securely erased by changing the DEK. In some cases, organizations are compelled to use SED drives to meet some government policies like data protection at rest and secure erasing the drives before disposing them
Compliance Enabled Vaults, or CEV for short, offer Non-Erasable, Non-Rewriteable (NENR) tamperproof protection for objects
消去ではないですが、まずは暗号化しておくことは安心材料の1つになるかと思います。 #Storage #data-erase #データ消去 #Encryption #暗号化
Both LTO3 and LTO4 support a mix of regular and "Write Once, Read Many" (WORM) media tohelp comply with regulations demanding "Non-erasable, Non-rewriteable" storage
Since the term "WORM" is inappropriate fordisk-based solutions, IBM has standardized to the use of the term "non-erasable, non-rewriteable" (NENR) to discusstoday's solutions and offerings
They come to me, of course, with three requests: If possible, rescue existing documents and photos from the old PC Wipe the hard drive clean, what we in the IT storage industry call a "Secure Erase" Give the old PC to charity or appropriate recycling facility I had six old machines to work on this year
We also offer "data retention" where the data itself is valuable, and must be kept on WORM or non-erasable, non-rewriteable storage to meet business or government regulatory compliance
Unfortunately, WORM does not apply to disk-based solutions, so IBM adopted the languagefrom SEC 17a-4 that calls for storage that is "Non-Erasable, Non-Rewriteable" or NENR...During this time, the information must not be erased or re-written
SLC is faster and can endure more "Program-erase" write cycles, but MLC is less expensive to manufacture and therefore used in most consumer products, like digital cameras, smart phones, music players and USB memory sticks
